  14. <p>     DIED. Florence Seibert, 93, biochemist who developed a process
  15. that made intravenous transfusions safe and refined an accurate
  16. skin test for tuberculosis; in St. Petersburg. In the 1920s, while
  17. teaching and performing research at the University of Chicago,
  18. Seibert devised a method for I.V. transfusions that did not cause
  19. sudden high fevers. After isolating the active substance in
  20. tuberculin, she improved the first accurate skin test for
  21. tuberculosis.
